A programme of music by the 17th century Italian composer G.B. Vitalli, J.S. Bach and some well known Irish airs arranged for cello.
Eimear will perform the Fifth Suite for solo Cello by J.S. Bach. This iconic piece is arguably one of the most beautiful and profound pieces composed for solo cello the hauntingly beautiful Sarabande from this suite featured famously in the film Truly, Madly, Deeply, and was performed by Yoyo Ma at the site of the world trade centre on the first anniversary of the attack in 2011. Cellists Rostropivich and Tortellier described it as “the essence of Bach’s Genius” and “an Extension of Silence

Cork based cellist, Eimear Reidy performs throughout Europe both as a chamber musician and soloist. , Eimear  has performed with some of the most accomplished performers in this field in some of Europe’s finest concert halls, including The Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, The Filharmonia, Krakow and Symphony Hall, Birmingham. Eimear enjoys a diversity of musical practices and collaborations, such as improvisation, experimental electronic music, sound art and composition. Eimear is a founding member of the Irish early music ensemble The Hibernian Muse whose album, Irish Airs and the Music of Carolan was recorded and released for RTE Lyric FM in 2014. Recently Eimear has collaborated with artists such as Robert Curgenven, The Quiet Club and Strange Attractor. Eimear is currently working on a composition for solo cello and sounds from Heir Island funded by the Art Council of Ireland. The piece will be premiered in Skibbereen Arts Festival in 2018.
