A unique, immersive day of creativity and nature-inspired activities with “Weaving Connections” hosted by the Birch Collective.

Taking place on Saturday, May 23rd from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm, this free, family-friendly event will be held at the Midleton Farmers Market and The Lodge, offering a rich programme of hands-on workshops, storytelling, and artistic experiences.

“Weaving Connections” invites participants to explore the relationship between art, community, and the natural environment. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with local artists and learn traditional and creative skills rooted in nature.

Event highlights include:

  • Learning weaving techniques and contributing to the creation of a collaborative willow web
  • Storytelling sessions exploring folklore, traditional medicine, and planting practices
  • Opportunities to make a biodiversity pledge and craft a message stick for the nature spirit
  • Creative drawing using inks made from local trees

This interactive event is designed to inspire all ages to reconnect with nature while expressing creativity in meaningful and imaginative ways.

Supported by Cork County Council and Creative Ireland, “Weaving Connections” reflects the festival’s broader theme of connection – bringing together people, place, and creativity in a shared experience.
