Children’s Poetry Competition Celebrates Creativity at Midleton Books
Midleton, Co. Cork — Young writers across the region are invited to take part in an exciting Children’s Poetry Competition hosted by Midleton Books, encouraging imagination, creativity, and self-expression through the written word.
This year’s theme, “The Webs People Weave,” invites participants to explore stories of connection, friendship, dreams, and the unseen threads that link us all. Children are encouraged to let their imaginations run free and express their unique voices through poetry in any style.
The competition is open to three age categories:
- 5–9 years
- 10–14 years
- 15–18 years
Entries must be submitted by May 18th, either by dropping them into the shop or emailing them to midletonbooks@gmail.com
Winners will be celebrated at a special event on Sunday, May 24th at 3:00 pm at Midleton Books. The event will feature poetry readings, winner announcements, and a prize-giving ceremony, offering a wonderful opportunity for young poets to share their work and be recognised for their creativity.
Organisers welcome all styles and approaches, encouraging participants to “get creative and start weaving your poem today.”
This initiative forms part of the ongoing efforts to foster a love of literature and creative expression among young people in the community.
